The Bible and Beyond’s Live Online Hybrid Courses

I have taken about five Bible and Beyond live online hybrid courses. The group interactions really help expand and broaden everyone’s views on the texts (as well as the Bible). Dr. Paulson’s teaching style encourages openness, honesty, lively interactions, respect for diverse views, pondering, and questioning. Her up-to-date knowledge on the early Christian texts has opened up avenues of thought I never knew existed. I am left with the thirst to know more. Dr. Shirley Paulson’s Bible and Beyond courses bring writings that were lost for almost two millennia to the 21 century!  Exploring something so new is very exciting. I have loved every one of the courses I have taken so far. The lectures are engaging, rich in content and easy to follow. The online class discussions led by Shirley are a wonderful opportunity to expand and share ideas. Assignments provide an opportunity to “pause and ponder.”  I have gained an understanding and appreciation of the challenging times in which these texts were written and also see their timelessness and relevance today. Dr. Shirley Paulson’s live online hybrid courses are challenging and delightful. The courses provide exposure to new ideas about the followers of Jesus in the centuries following his resurrection before the church gained the power it later carried. It is fascinating to examine new texts in comparison to canonical books in the Bible.  While the ideas are often strange and different, it is so exciting to consider the diverse ideas of the earlier followers of Jesus. Shirley’s input during the online group discussions add so much. It is a productive way to learn, combining individual study time and group exploration.
